Potterheads around the world are ecstatic, and we couldn’t have asked for a better New Year’s gift. The Harry Potter movies have been an integral part of our childhood, and Gen-Z has truly grown alongside the OG Harry Potter cast. For a while, the Harry Potter franchise went quiet. But we always knew that the Boy Who Lived was never far away!
The epic ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is etched in our minds! And what an ending it was! Since then, the Potterhead community has been waiting in anticipation and wondering what’s in store next. The Harry Potter franchise is too big! Over the last couple of years, we had to make due with theme park attractions, stage productions, and the Hogwarts Legacy game. Now that we know that a new series is in the works, who’s going to be cast? Let’s take a closer look at which roles have been taken, and who we can expect to see, along with a wishful dream casting by Styles Spur!
Things are definitely in motion as the Harry Potter series is slowly lurching towards production. The series is looking at a 2026 premiere, as cited by official sources. A lot of names are swirling around, and fans are either pleased with the casting rumors or simply confused. Doing justice to a beloved series can be quite hard; therefore, finding the actors and actresses for the job is going to be a big deal. No one can forget the OG dynamic cast with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton playing major characters and winning our hearts! We also developed a sweet spot for legendary British talents such as Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Ralph Fiennes, and Micheal Gambon. And what a fantastic cast this was!

The frenzy surrounding the Harry Potter series has reached a fever pitch! Around 32,000 kids have sent in their audition tapes for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione in response to the open casting call. There is still conjecture surrounding the official casting of Harry Potter, with many names still shrouded in mystery. However, there is a silver lining! We have compiled a list of the “confirmed” adult cast of the Harry Potter series, or at least what HBO has shortlisted for now:

Who can ever forget the enigmatic Sirius Black? When the character was first introduced in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, we were all worried about Harry, but as it turns out, Sirius Black was a good friend of James and Lily Potter. He is also the godfather of Harry Potter. Originally played by Gary Oldman, this role is now up for grabs in the new series. We would like to nominate Ben Barnes for the role! Ben Barnes is the perfect fit for Sirius Black because of his charming personality and versatile acting portfolio. We have seen his acting range as he embodied the role of ‘The Darkling’ in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone. His suave personality and attractive looks will definitely make everyone swoon over the new Sirius Black!
Remus Lupin is an embodiment of wisdom balanced with humility. He is a caring mentor to Harry Potter and a masterful Defense Against the Dark Arts professor; Remus quickly became every Potterhead’s favorite. Remus’s kind nature and loyalty to his friends was portrayed beautifully by David Thewlis. A name that immediately pops up for the role of Remus in the new series is Andrew Garfield! Known for his thoughtful, humble nature and amazing acting prowess, Andrew Garfield is the perfect fit for Remus Lupin. If he is chosen for the role, he will do justice to the role and shine through with his amazing performance
Eva Green is a dynamic actress who is known for her captivating blend of mystery and intensity. These qualities make her the perfect choice for the crazy yet prolific Bellatrix Lestrange. Despite her being on the wrong side, her pragmatic energy is captivating. We hope to see Eva Green on the new series!
